{love and cherish}

coming closer to the festive season I reminisce about my enormous family Christmas’ and the days spent with my aunties, uncles, cousins and friends all included. How times have changed and what a difference it makes when you no longer have the matriarch to hold the family together, they are like the glue. The matriarch; the glue, being my grandmother. It’s been so long since she has been with us and our large family has broken off into their own little gatherings mostly due to geographical reasons. We now find ourselves travelling down the coast for Christmas at the shack! This photo used to sit in the spare bedroom at my Nan’s house. Being one of the latest children to be born into the pool of 32 cousins, I never met my grandfather, affectionately known to my cousins as “pappy”, I felt like I missed out on a huge deal! and to my family he was a BIG DEAL! I love this photo. But I need to ask my mother about it. It’s a massive print stuck onto a wooden base and frame. She is not wearing white so obviously at the age of 16 and little money to their name it looks like they were married at the registry office. How beautiful and sweet! It was love and still after 10 children! I discovered this photo, in our store room it’s all torn but I think adds to the whole feel.
